Netflix leads a group of streaming video services that have created a growth surge and a cord-cutting disruption of the pay-TV business environment. Find out how to start streaming media through Netflix for yourself.
In recent years, the rising numbers of enthusiastic customers who download Netflix have disrupted the pay-TV industry. Cable TV has felt and reacted to the phenomenal growth of streaming video. After deciding to use the Netflix service, customers often cut the cord by removing the paid television option from their cable bundles.
In 2007, Netflix introduced its streaming services, enabling users to watch the shows and movies they wanted instantaneously. It eventually expanded to become a streaming service used worldwide, and it has replaced the use of cable in many modern homes.
Netflix offers suggestions to users based on the shows and movies they watch, allowing them to build their own personalized libraries of programs to watch later. Netflix has even produced its own original content, exclusively available via the streaming service. These Netflix Originals include shows like “Stranger Things,” “Orange is the New Black,” and “Trailer Park Boys.”
How to Get Netflix
Many smart devices, like smart TVs, already come pre-equipped with the Netflix app, so users can instantly log in to their accounts without having to download any additional software. However, if your device does not come with it, Netflix is typically available via your device’s app store. Simply go to your device’s default app store, search for the app, and begin your Netflix download. Then, locate and run the app. You need log into your account in order to access streaming services.
Those using Windows computers to access Netflix’s streaming services can generally stream through the browser without having to download any programs as long as the internet connection is available. However, those who want access to Netflix while not connected to the internet, such as during flights or in areas without Wi-Fi access, can download its shows and movies for viewing while offline.
Those using Android smartphones or tablets can easily find the Netflix app via the Google Play Store. Simply open the Play Store, search for the Netflix app, and begin your download. Once Netflix is downloaded, it will be prompted to install it.
Simply click the “Install” button, and the app will be installed automatically on your device. You can then log in to your account and begin streaming.
Those using Mac and Apple smartphones and tablets can download the Netflix app via iTunes for iOS versions 5.0 or later. However, those using earlier versions of iOS systems can still use Netflix’s streaming services by way of internet browsers such as Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome. In order to use Netflix with Google Chrome, you’ll need to install the add-on from the Google Web Store.
Video Game Consoles
Netflix’s streaming services are also available to owners of video game consoles like the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Netflix will often be listed as one of the console’s pre-loaded apps, so all you need to do is navigate to the app menu, select the app, and log in to your Netflix account. However, if the app is not already pre-loaded, you can download it from the PlayStation Store, the Nintendo Store for the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, or via Microsoft for the Xbox One.
